“...we have now decided to produce, the Bootleg, using the recording of our concert on 31 May, 2018 at L'Asino che Vola in Rome. Mind you: it is not “Balletto di Bronzo live”, otherwise it would have been conceived and carried out in a very different way and from the onset. In fact, we have no

Ys, the 2nd & last album by IBDB, is one of the most loved 70's Italian progressive rock releases. It is a classical rock classic that has seldom been equaled, with great soaring vocals, terrific, heavy Hammond organ playing, a creepy atmosphere, and...

"With a remarkable trajectory as both a trumpeter and a composer, Dave Ballou performs in and composes for orchestras and big ensembles (Either/Orchestra, Meridian Art Ensemble, John Hollenbeck’s Large Ensemble, Woody Herman Big Band and so on), but here we find him playing solo, sometimes using pre-notated materials, others improvising on the edge. In the crossroads of jazz and classical music, he interpreted Bach’s “Bradenburg Concertos” and worked with the recently departed third stream mentor...

Dave Ballou trumpet
Anthony Pirog guitar and effects
Adam Hopkins double bass
Mike Kuhl drums and cymbals

This is a meeting of some of DC & Baltimore's finest. Dave Ballou is a quietly insanely masterful trumpeter and he leads his friends through tunes and freedom with Anthony P; what more could you ask for?

"The title of this debut album from the band BeepHonk refers to the place where it all started in 2011: the Windup Space, in Baltimore. There, bassist Adam Hopkins...

"For some time, and for two released albums, Ballrogg was the name of the duo formed by clarinetist and saxophonist Klaus Ellerhusen Holm (Honest John, Large Unit) and double bassist Roger Arntzen (In the Country, Chrome Hill), identified by a captivating approach which combined an exploration of the influence of

"At first, the Norwegian trio Ballrogg was a duo formed by reedist Klaus Ellerhusen Holm (Honest John, Large Unit) and double bassist Roger Arntzen (In the Country, Chrome Hill), then later expanded with guitarist Ivar Grydeland, who through two albums added a country & western flavor to the mix and placed Ballrogg’s music as “free chamber americana"

The latest from this ambient-influenced band. Despite it being their 7th (or 8th if you count a remix album), I had never heard or heard of them until this, but it reminded me a lot of Harold Budd, what with watery piano and simple melodies. Really nice and appealing low-key music for piano, guitar, effects, etc.

"A decade-plus on the road, near-constant musical output, and shifting creative priorities caused the revered Austin duo, comprised of multi-instrumentalists Rob Lowe and Michael Muller..

By the end of 2022, Indonesia will see the completion of its first high-speed rail line. According to the globe-trotting musicians of Balungan, however, the train is already at the station. The 13-member band kicks off its debut, Kudu Bisa Kudu, with the nostalgic steam whistle and intentionally garbled boarding call of “Javanese TGV”, but as soon as the driving bassline gears ups, it’s clear that we’re riding a 21st-century conveyance. Gang vocals, hairpin-curve guitars, and...

Lucian Ban – piano

“Developing a program of solo piano music is the ultimate challenge for any improvising pianist. Lucian Ban's mesmerizing new recording of solo piano improvisations, Ways of Disappearing, represents a daring addition to the genre and is a powerful and uncompromising statement for his first unaccompanied solo album.”

Lucian Ban - piano
John Surman - baritone & soprano saxophones, bass clarinet
Mat Maneri - viola

This is everything you would want from an exploration of folk music melodies of Romania from these three distinctive players. Surman particularly sounds amazing here - like he was born to play this music!.

“Their mutual interest in the work of Hungarian composer and ethnomusicologist Béla Bartók led to their new recording, Transylvanian Folk Songs, an assortment of arrangements

Michel Banabila-Early Works: Things Popping Up from the Past $18.00 "Numerous threads run through the music of sound artist, composer, and producer Michel Banabila (born 1961), whose contemporary work ranges from adventurous electronic cross-breeding of chamber instrumentation through industrial rhythmic sampling and outwardbound modular synthesis to deeply elegiac drones. This set collects the Dutch artist's instrumental 1980s work -- beautiful minimal loop-based electronica, classical-influenced pieces..

For some reason in the early 1990s, Banco decided to re-record their first two album. They didn't ruin them, they revisited them and in some parts, actually expanded upon the musical themes and ideas. Are they better? Probably not, but are still pretty...

This album of very early material by Banco was issued once before on CD, but that release has not been in print for a long time. While it is quite different than what we think of as Banco, it's actually rather good, especially for something so early....

This is a reissue of “En Concierto Mexico”, featuring the band’s performance of 5/28/99 with a different cover. It’s a great show, but we don’t want you to buy it again if you already own it!

“It is, probably, the best Banco live recording. The sound is perfect, the selection of songs reflects well both band's past and present (to date) material. Only the album "Nudo Live" presents equal sound quality.
Even tracks from the album "Il 13" ("Brivido", "Sirène", "Bisbigli") sound well in the...

Seemingly out of nowhere comes this completely professionally recorded live album from one of the Italian symphonic rock greats caught during their prime on April 23rd, 1975 at Teatro Verdi in Salerno, Italy. 75 minutes long and with stunningly good versions of some of their best pieces. Everything is well balanced and sounds great, even the delicate piano parts. This is the best 30 year old, never-before issued release you will ever hear! Completely and utterly essential for fans, and good enough that...

Remastered from original tapes and augmented by newly discovered recordings from the same concert. Part of the large cache of historical Hat Hut records that Corbett vs. Dempsey continues to release. Original...

“Dark Star Safari, a newly formed group featuring Samuel Rohrer, Jan Bang, Erik Honoré, and Eivind Aarset presents Dark Star Safari, an evocative song-driven album. These songs conjure shadows of memory, clouds of dreaming and silhouettes of foreboding through the album's layered, many-textured fabrics and Bang's silken delivery of Honoré's lyrics. Dark Star Safari is the work of four kindred spirits, an open modus operandi, and a remarkably interconnected creative nerve system. Key to their...

The suite opens with Prelude to a Million Years, originally commissioned for and performed at the Cheltenham Music Festival.
