"Action from Zweibrücken were playing organ-dominated progressive hard rock in the tradition of Deep Purple or the early Uriah Heep. The ideas and their execution are good; the way the singer tries to copy Ian Gillan, however, seems at times a bit...

The second of their 2 'official' studio albums released during their lifetime. Agitation Free were an instrumental, dual guitar oriented, somewhat 'jammy' oriented psychedelic/Krautrock outfit. In addition to the guitar, they are best known for giving the world synthesist/keyboardist Michael Hoenig.
For me, this is the best studio album, reaching the peakest peaks of their twin guitar, "Krautrock meets the most out moments of the Grateful Dead" sound.
Recommended and essential early 70s German...

This is the third time that these very final sessions by Agitation Free have been issued, and this would seem to be the definitive version, with the best sound of any of the previous issues, as well as a bonus track. This is a big psychedelic jam from ...

Vinyl edition limited to 1,000 hand-numbered copies! This album consists of the very final sessions by Agitation Free. This is a big psychedelic jam from a lot of different members of the group from the different lineups of the band, including...

Agitation Free were an instrumental, dual guitar oriented, somewhat 'jammy' oriented psychedelic/Krautrock outfit. In addition to the guitar, they are best known for giving the world synthesist/keyboardist Michael Hoenig.
At their best, they combined spacey Krautrock with the most 'out' moments of the Grateful Dead at their most cosmic.
The band only managed to release two studio albums during their lifetime and a number of archival releases.
"Last" was a posthumous live release of 1973...

One of the greats of the Krautrock greats, their intertwining dual guitars with synths and rhythm section made them truly the intergalactic Grateful Dead. Nice to see that they are still burning and - based on this - burning brightly!...

A fun, loud, heavy progressive hard rock album that was recorded in early 1973. Includes two bonus tracks that total over 23', including a 18' instrumental! It gets sorta boring saying over and over again what a great job Garden of Delights do with th...

"An obscure early band that gained recognition as one of the darkest of heavy German progressives. Little is known about Ainigma, except that they existed for some time before making their sole album DILUVIUM, and the truth is that Ainigma were actually quite typical of the more mainstream Krautrock of the era.
Ainigma played a raw and slightly messy kind o

"Elaborate art rock from Hagen circa 1978. Similar to early Genesis or early Wallenstein. Three long tracks, well played and neatly recorded. Recommended. With 28 page color booklet"...

Minor classic of German jazz rock, that I had heard a lot about, but had never actually heard. Now that I've heard it, I can say that the track "Simple Headphone Music" is very nice and *very* blantently rips off "Torrid Zone" off of the first Nucleus ...

This is a high-quality pirate edition of two never-reissued, very obscure Krautrock rarities, with ties to Can.

"With their roots as ex-Thrice Mice members, Altona wisely chose this new name (Altona is a town on the edge of Hamburg) when dropping the former band's classical edge in preference for a jazzier front.
On their debut Altona played a lively fusion that crossed

Finally available in a definitive edition is this excellent live album, originally released only in the UK to capitalize on their early 70's successes there. This was recorded just a hair after the band's prime, circa Wolf City, December 16, 1972...

Pyragony X was a transitional album with a generally different sound from earlier Duul works, more oriented to a general audience. Their 10th album, this is a typically thorough Garden of Delights job, undertaken on a somewhat slight release. [Garden o...

This reissues the first Anima lp, which originally came out on Ohr in 1971, and must have filled many unsuspecting, tripping 'heads' with bummers, dude. "The duo of Paul and Limpe Fuchs were amongst the most experimental to emerge out of the late-60s a...

"From 1971. A very strange 'paycheck' project for Conny Plank and Achim Reichel's Gorilla Musik production company. Wonderland-esque German rock with...

Three guitarists, three generations, one album. Günter Schickert, Jochen Arbeit, and Dirk Dresselhaus are all renowned Berlin guitarists. They epitomize three generations of experimental musicians; Schickert personifies the krautrock of the 1970s, Arbeit 1980s post-punk, and Dresselhaus the neo-electronica of the late 1990s and 2000s. Their artistic approaches may differ according to their diverse musical backgrounds, yet what they have in common is a fundamental interest in developing the guitar as a...

"Cold Waters is the result of a very short yet intense meeting between Jean-Hervé Péron (Faust) and Amaury Cambuzat (Ulan Bator). The duo met in the French countryside at Carina’s silk mill: two days, two mics, two friends and a dog…from hilarious to...

The incredible first album by this legendary Krautrock ensemble, remastered by Manuel Göttsching himself!
The incredible power trio (guitar, bass, drums) first effort from 1971 by Germany's Ash Ra Tempel has Manuel Gottsching (guitar), Harmut Enke (bass) and Klaus Schulze (drums - this is before he became a space music pioneer!). Great, over-the-top, psychedelic power rock.

"After a couple of aborted demo's Ash Ra Tempel decided to go to Hamburg and record an album proper, with the aid of...

This was originally recorded and released in 2000 and was one of two efforts by 'Ash Ra Tempel", which is the meeting again after quite some time of Klaus Schulze and Manuel Gottsching.

Back in print after at least a decade of unavailability. This is a previously unreleased 1975 album, issued for the first time in the mid 1990's as a film soundtrack. For that reason, it's definitely not one of the classics, but it is still really good overall.

This is a CLASSIC and was where I discovered the wonders of Manuel Gottsching!
The sixth album by Ash Ra Tempel, this was actually Manuel Gottsching's first solo album. Recorded at home with a Teac 4 track, & released in 1974, it's an absolute classic of echo'd, multi-tracked guitar trance/space-out wizardry. Three long, appropriately named tracks ("Echo Waves," "Quasarsphere," "Pluralis"). This belongs in the collection of anyone interested in space or trance music.

"Manuel played his...

Or, as that hipster Manuel has it on the cover, @shra...anyway, this is a pretty obscure release and is also a very good one from 1998 that hasn't been available in a long time. Grab it or regret it!

"Recorded during the first Japanese tour of the band in Osaka and Tokyo in February 1997, this double album is a rare document of the late Ashra with Manuel Gottsching, Lutz Ulbrich, Harald Grosskopf with the new signing Steve Baltes, who has since been in Goettsching's band . A perfectly oiled blend...

Totally professional, multi-camera live performance from June 8, 2012 in Berlin of Manuel Gottsching (guitar & keyboard), Harald Grosskopf (drums) and Steve Baltes (electronics) performing pieces from the albums Blackouts and Correlations.

This album, recorded in Berlin, and originally released in 1977 on Virgin, marks the first time Manuel Gottsching used the name Ashra (as opposed to Ash Ra Tempel). This was also possibly the first time that the term "new age" was used on a record! It'...

While it's pretty certain that Miles kick started the whole electric jazz-jazz/rock movement with In A Silent Way and Bitches Brew in 1969, there were other people working towards the same goals at aproximately the same time, some of them better known...

"Baumann/Koek is another hitherto undiscovered treasure of German electronic music, the only album by the electronic music pairing of Wolfgang Baumann and Ata Koek, both from Kempten, Bavaria, Germany. It was mixed in Conny Plank's studio and distributed, without a label, by the duo themselves in 1978. The music owes much to the Berlin School; layered sequencer patterns, swirling chord tapestries, a computer beat here and there. Eastern elements or hints thereof add a particular charm to Baumann/Koek...

Just in time for the reissues of "Romance '76" and "Trans Harmonic Nights" comes the first new music from Peter in something like 20 years! And it's good, capturing the sort of 'spare but still Berlin-school' vibe of his early classics!

"In October 2014 an idea suddenly came to mind. Although I had spent much of my life performing, recording and producing music, my attention over the immediately preceding years had been focused on the philosophy and psychology of human nature. It was a rewarding...

An important, long-time and key member of Tangerine Dream, Peter Baumann was with the group through basically all of their most important work.
This was his first solo album and was released while he was still in TD. It's a fine work and it has been unavailable on CD for nearly 20 years.

"While still a member of Tangerine Dream, Peter Baumann released his first solo album, Romance '76. It's not far removed from the music that TD was making at the time -- in fact, references to Rubycon...

An important, long-time and key member of Tangerine Dream, Peter Baumann was with the group through mostl of their most important work.
This was his second solo album and was released not too long after he left Tangerine Dream. It's a fine work and it has been unavailable on CD for nearly 20 years.

"Peter Baumann's second recording does not fail to send one to new worlds both inner and outer and anyone familiar with his music will play it over and over. In my opinion Tangerine Dream never...

Recorded in 1976-77, this is their fifth album. Sort of between trance/krautrock and early world music/new-age explorations (before new age turned into vapid pretty noodling). This has nearly 20 minutes of unreleased material!...
