Krautrock/Kosmische Musik and related

This beautiful, legit reissue includes a gatefold sleeve!
This album has an interesting history and is sort of the band's 1st and 2nd album simultaneously.
Trauma was originally recorded and released in 1970, but the band was unhappy with the work and soon after re-worked and re-recorded the album with English lyrics and a harder 'progressive hard rock' sound with nice organ and guitar work.
This album is best known for the 13' title track, which is a heavy, psychedelic mix of Guru Guru and...

This title has been out of print forever and we were lucky to find a very small quantity. Please note that these have a tiny 'promotional copy' sticker on the UPC code. Otherwise, new and perfect.

Here's what I know; these two record for the...

More than 1/3rd off the original price, now that this has found a US distributor! If you didn't pick it up before, there's no excuse not to now!

Die Mulde is the most recent release by the legendary guitarist and synthesist, although it isn't...

This was originally released in 1981, & is a single piece of really trancey, hypnotic electronics with some nice, very subtle changes going on, & Manuel's (Ash Ra Tempel) guitarwork overlaid on it. I know that some folks find it too minimal, but for me, this is one of the great trance Berlin albums of all time. Personally recommended.

"180-gram LP version with embossed chessboard artwork print and printed inner sleeve."

This is a solo album by Manuel, which was recorded in 1977, but not released until 1991. It's pretty much prime period stuff of spacey guitar and electronics. [Spalax]

Brand new double live set from Grobschnitt. Included is a complete live version of Rockpommel's Land as well as many other vintage greats. They still have that sound and fans will be really happy with this one.

The fifth in a series tracing the evolution of this very acclaimed, large-scale piece by this German symphonic band, released by their drummer Eroc. This has material from 1975 and 1983. [Wolkenreise]

Nice, quite comprehensive live overview, with recordings from 1973-1981, all remastered by Eroc and in a great double digi-pack. "The German group Grobschnitt were one of the more famous bands from the classic 70's Krautrock era. They had a long and va...

Very obscure solo album by the leader of the German jazz/rock band Aera. Never before available on CD, afaict.

"Originally released in 1979, these recordings show the first solo efforts by formerly Aera leader, guitar player and composer Muck...

Great live set from this offshoot of Ashra, features music not dissimilar to what the Ozrics do. I love the track "lys", built around a sample of off of Bitches Brew!

"Recorded live in Jelenia Gora, Poland at Teatr Jeleniogorski during the...

"Tired of the rock format and excited by the freedoms promised by electronic music, Harald Grosskopf quit Wallenstein, a conventional rock band, in the mid-'70s to turn his attention to electronica. Grosskopf thus became the first drummer to specialize...

"Harald Grosskopf was in his early twenties when LSD 'blew [his] reality away,' as he recalls. Born in Hildesheim in 1949, he had previously drummed in fairly conventional rock bands, most recently for Wallenstein. Their label-boss Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser...

Ultra-rare lost psychedelic Kraut-folk from 1979. First time on CD and LP. Taken from the original master tapes. "Gulaab" means "rose" in the Nepalese language. Gulaab is a German virtuoso on the acoustic guitar who served three years as an after...

This marks the first-ever reissue of the second of two albums that Guru Guru made for Atlantic, after recording four albums for Brain and losing original guitarist Ax Genrich. Ax was an amazing guitarist and losing him changed the sound greatly, but th...

The fifth Guru Guru album, and the final one with the great guitarist Ax Genrich, was their first on a major label and finds them mellowing out a bit, at least compared to Hinten and maybe working a bit more in the 'typical Krautrock' (if there was such a thing) vein. Still lots of guitar splaying by Ax.
Never before on CD, this is remastered and includes an entire, never-before seen or heard bonus disc of the band recorded live at the Krefeld Festival in 1973, in good, not great sound, but it's a...

An excellent sounding period recording from their 10/25/70 performance at the Essen Pop & Blues Festival. This is just after their great 1st album UFO was released, and captures them at an early, heady peak; imagine the furthest out that a power trio c...

Even crazier second release of monster power trio, early 1970's style hard rock/progressive/psychedelic madness by Ax Genrich-guitar/vocals, Uli Trepte-bass/vocals & Mani Neumeier-drums/vocals. Like your favorite Cream record with it's brain destroyed...

Well, here's a title that tells you exactly what you are getting. Two shows - on DVD and CD - by the legendary and long-lived Guru Guru, recorded nearly 30 years apart.

"In 1976, with six albums and eight years after being founded the German Krautrock legend Guru Guru was the first German band to be invited to play at Rockpalast. Guru Guru with their outstanding drummer Mani Neumeier have always been considered the perfect hippie band. Every festival of alternative music from Burg Herzberg to...

Two hours - two FULL Rockpalast programs - from 1976 and 2004, by this classic Krautrock band!

"Guru Guru, founded in August 1968, originally saw themselves as part of the student movement, needling the moral concepts of the conservative middle..

Really good (not professional, but genuinely very good) quality live album recorded November 4, 1972. This is recorded just after the band's peak, as Ulli Trepte has left and Bruno Schaab (a fine player) is his replacement here, but the repertoire is...

This is Uli Trepte and Mani Neumeier, fresh from their years backing Irene Schweizer, making the transition from free jazz to free rock and finding themselves before they dropped the Groove Band part, settled on a guitarist and became Guru Guru.
This is historically fascinating, but please note it is of bootleg sound quality.

"This newly discovered gem documenting the inception of Krautrock finally sees the light of day courtesy of Guru Guru founding member of Mani Neumeier...

"Guru Guru played in the Wartburg, a Wiesbaden hall, on September 17th, 1973. It was one of the gigs recorded by Xhol (Caravan) acquaintance Muck Krieger. His recording equipment was then state-of-the-art: an Uher tape recorder CR 124 and two Revox...

This is something a bit special as original Guru Guru members guitarist Ax Genrich and drummer Mani Neumeier with Guy Segers, the monster bassist from mid-period Univers Zero! While you won't necessarily be confused into thinking that this is UFO...

"The notion that Jochen Irmler and Gudrun Gut would one day merge the best of their two worlds was never quite to be expected. We hear Irmler's meandering, wistfully psychedelic organ sound, seeming to come from a different era. And we hear Gut's...

"First official CD-release of mysterious one-off project, co-led by 3 US expatriots living in Munich, Germany: Keyboardist Jimmy Jackson, drummer George Green and Guitarist William Powell. Major point of interest for most progressive and psychedelic...

After two albums, guitarist Michael Rother left Neu! & joined forces with the electronic duo Cluster (Hans Joachim Roedelius & Didier Moebius). Fantastic, Brain-licensed, mastertape sourced edition of this classic, classic, classic Krautrock album. So, Harmonia put out this sexy, vinyl-only box set of all their work and included the box included a vinyl release of never-before heard studio material.
But until now, you had to either get it in the vinyl box or you could buy it as a cassette (as CASSETTE? I know it was recorded in 1975, but did they have sell it like it was 1975?).
FINALLY you can buy it on CD and it’s really great!
This album consists of two unearthed live recordings, capturing the Deluxe-era incarnation of the group...

This is simply an unbelievable find and has to qualify for archival release of the year!
After two albums, guitarist Michael Rother left Neu! & joined forces with the electronic duo Cluster (Hans Joachim Roedelius & Didier Moebius) in the mid 1970s. They made two brilliant albums that combined Rother's melodic sense with the early, home-made electronic king-klang of Cluster, were generally ignored at the time. Eventually the musicians kinda gave up on the whole starvation thing and moved onto other....

One of the all-time classic, classic Krautrock albums! After two albums, guitarist Michael Rother left Neu! & joined forces with the electronic duo Cluster (Hans Joachim Roedelius & Didier Moebius). The first of two by guitarist Michael Rother & synthesists Hans Joachim Roedelius & Dieter Moebius. Extremely high quality instrumental melodic-yet-proto-industrial texture music for guitar, organ, synthesizer, piano & percussion. Highly, highly, personally recommended; one of my favorites of all time, along...

I am a firm believer that the two Harmonia albums that were released in the 70s are among the very, very best records released from Germany in the 1970s and maybe anywhere in the 70s. So, this set of previously unreleased recordings which first came to...

Very rare hard rock/progressive album by an Italian trio of guitar/vocals, bass and drums that was only released in Germany on a tiny label and never reissued until now. "A very pleasant music style overall, at times close to harder New Trolls, but Her...

Remastered, properly done reissue of Hoelderlin's much sought after third album. This and Rare Birds are the band at their peak of their symphonic/progressive prime. "They were clearly influenced by British bands of the time. The melodic sensibilities...

Remastered, properly done reissue of Hoelderlin's much sought-after second album on CD. Starting their life as a folk rock band, the band lost their female singer, changed the spelling of their name slightly (from Holderlin to Hoelderlin) and moved...

Hoelderlin were a German symphonic rock band featuring five musicians on vocals, keyboards, viola, guitars, bass and drums, as well as a dedicated lyricist. This live album was their fifth album and was recorded in 1977; rather towards the end of the p...

Remastered, properly done reissue of Hoelderlin's much sought-after fourth album on CD. This and Clowns & Clouds are the band at their peak of their symphonic/progressive prime. "This was the band's last great studio album. Everything came together on...

First album by this German band, and the only one that they released during their folk rock influenced period. The title translates as "Hoelderlin's Dream", and this is indeed a dreamy folk/prog/psychedelic classic! "Their debut (aka Holderlin's Dream)...

First-time available on CD for this instrumental progressive/jazz-rock German quintet with Kraftwerk connections, of all things. I remember seeing this in the record shops, but I must admit that this is the first time I ever got to hear it - and...

About a month before Malcolm Mooney (and apparently Michael Karoli is missing from this too, although I gotta say that even though he isn't credited as being on here, it sure SOUNDS like Michael and Michael is a very distinctive musical voice...) joined..

This Swiss band only released this one, very collectable lp in 1977. At that time they were a quartet of vocals, keyboards, sax & drums. This has a lot of long tracks & instrumental passages, & is generally dark & gloomy progressive. Maybe a little...

The second album by one of the two "Jane's" out there making music. Theirs is a odd, very 'rock 'n' roll' tale, but many years ago, Jane split into two bands, one led by Peter Panka and the other led by Klaus Hess. This is by the one led by Peter Panka...

An extremely rare 1974 jazz/rock album featuring saxes, keyboards, guitar, bass and drums that I had never even heard of before. In addition to the original album, almost 40' of unreleased live stuff has been added in. The live stuff is only of pretty....

"„Minne” was the fourth and second to last LP by Joy Unlimited from Mannheim; it was recorded in 1974 and released in 1975. It is, as its forerunners “Schmetterlinge” and “Reflections”, a ballet work with progressive music, this time sung in Middle High..

"In 1973 singer Joy had already quit the group and Ken Traylor had joined instead. As Joy Unlimited consisted of highly talented and accepted musicians, they were offered an appointment for another ballet work, this time at the Mannheim Nationaltheater...
