“Record Store Day 2021 edition, gatefold sleeve, 180 grams red vinyl.”

Percussionist Toni Esposito is pretty much forgotten now, but in the mid 70's he released four very good to excellent albums of Italian jazz/rock. He eventually ended up as a semi-member of Perigeo, performing excellently on at least one of their albums.
This, from 1974, was his first album and I think that it's his best.
Along with Toni's 'bag of percussive tricks', there are excellent performances by Paul Buckmaster...

“Estructura is one of the first prog outfits that formed in Venezuela, with a pure symphonic pedigree. Both of their albums feature stellar musicianship, an explosive co-existence of neo-classical with hard-prog, punctuated by celestial keyboards and interspersed with ethereal vocals, a hyperreal space where moog twists anchor mood swings and provide syntactic orientation to a passionate trajectory in constant flux. At the same time contemplative and dynamic, slippery and firm, lyrical and crude....

"Argentinian band's Eternidad roots can be found in a Folk Rock duo, established in 1971 by brothers Daniel Mendez (guitars, harmonica, vocals) and Roberto Mendez (guitars, lute, vocals). This early outfit would evolve into a 5-piece line-up around mid-70's, featuring also Claudio Pedra on various keyboards and piano, Robi Massarotto on bass/vocals and Luis Yanes on drums/percussion.With the help of guest musicians Antonio Agri on violin and Dino Saluzzi on bandoneon they recorded their sole album ...

Beautiful, legitimate and fully licensed reissue with the striking cover art!

Etron Fou were one of the premier French avant/progressive bands from 1974-1986, & a founding member of R.I.O. This reissues the Etron's 1st album, from early 1977. This is certainly their most dada/out album, and I have a real soft spot for it in my heart, but I wouldn't recommend you start here unless your interest is more in general French craziness than in the superb musicality that came later.

Bernard Matthieu (saxes, vocals)
Jo Thirion (organ, piano, trumpet, vocals)
Ferdinand Richard (bass, vocals)
Guigou Chenevier (drums, vocals)

Etron Fou were one of the premier French avant/progressive bands from 1974-1986, & a founding member of Rock In Opposition (R.I.O.). This reissues the Etron's 4th album on vinyl for the first time and their first as a quartet.
This was their first album recorded under really professional conditions with production and guest musical...

Beautiful, legitimate and fully licensed reissue of a stone classic of the early and original R.I.O. movement.

This is Etron Fou Leloublan about 9 months after I saw them open up for Henry Cow, performing the material of their soon to be released fantastic 2nd album, Les Trois Fous, at the legendary, first RIO festival, along with Henry Cow, Stormy Six, Univers Zero and Samla Mammas Manna! A slice of history and an amazing performance by Ferdinand Richard (bass, vocals), Guigou Chenevier (drums, vocals) and Francis Grand (sax, vocals). Plus you can finally hear what I heard when I saw them, which is Ferdinand's...

"When it comes to outrageous German sleeve designs, it's impossible to not mention (this) album. It presents a half-burned chicken lying in a frying pan. The album offers a typical German progressive blend, drawing equally from heavy rock, folk, jazz and classical. The six tracks were cleverly arranged, with rich instrumentation and sudden shifts of tempo. Inside the fold-out cover was a Black Sabbath-like shot of the band at a graveyard, burying a chicken!"-Cosmic Dreams At Play.

"You may know Stephen EvEns as the drummer behind Graham Coxon. You may know Stephen EvEns as the occasional sticksman behind The Damned. You may know Stephen EvEns as the rhythmic backbone of William D Drake’s band, Charlotte Hatherley, and, for one brief week, Cardiacs. You may even know him as Stuffy accompanied by his Fuses.
Now get to know Stephen EvEns the songsmith, the maudlin geetar plucker and blistering noisemangler. Get to know of his embittered heart (latterly mended) and the disturbed...

This is kind of an amazing progressive rock find from France. Evohé were a progressive / symphonic rock band from Toulouse with some definite zeuhl touches who never released anything during their lifetime.
They recorded this, a proposed album release, which never found a home (how could it in 1981?) and lay dormant until now!
This has THE SOUND because

Arnold de Boer - Vocals, guitar, claps
Terrie Hessels - Guitar
Katherina Bornefeld - Drums, vocals
Andy Moor - Guitar, baritone guitar

The latest by this Dutch art/punk aggregation who are always, ALWAYS worth hearing - I saw them about 8 months ago with this lineup with the addition of Ken Vandermark, which was great, and this latest one is another proud chapter to their enormous discography.

“In 1981, The Ex started squatting Villa Zuid, an estate overlooking abandoned Van Gelder paper factory in the village of Wormer, Netherlands. Formerly the home of the factory's manager, the Villa briefly served as the band's base of operations and would inspire one of The Ex's most impactful, enduring albums in their 40+ year history.
Originally released in 1983, Dignity Of Labour is "our idea of improvised industrial punk noise," states Ex-frontman G.W. Sok, which not only offers a perfect...

"Emerging out of Amsterdam's vibrant squat scene in 1979, The Ex -a name chosen for the ease and speed with which it could be spray-painted onto a wall-have for four decades been an entirely self-sustaining musical entity, charting a course through the global underground with a spirit of freedom and radical exploration.Originally released in 1982, History Is What's Happening features one of the most harrowing title/cover art combinations in recent memory. What at first glance looks like a firing squad...

“While awaiting the release of Dignity Of Labour, The Ex headed back into the studio in early 1983; this time with a new friend-The Mekons' Jon Langford-helping produce.
Originally released in April 1983 (only a month after Dignity Of Labour), Tumult marks a major evolution in Ex-sound. Opener "Bouquet Of Barbed Wire" emerges snarling out of post-punk atmospherics with Terrie Ex's glacial guitar, Bas Masbeck's loping bass and cascading tom-toms from new recruit Sabien Witteman, while "Fear" and...

Ex Vitae were a avant-leaning, experimental, jazz/rock band, who veered between tightly composed sections and synamic group improvisation and who self-released this one album in 1978. The original album is quite rare (I’ve ne

"From Melbourne Australia, EXEK are proud to unveil their third album, Some Beautiful Species Left. Like their previous releases, Some Beautiful Species Left is the cultivation of numerous edits and overdubs, where once again EXEK subscribe to Brian Eno's philosophy of the studio as an instrument. This M.O. allows the songwriting process to develop simultaneously alongside the recording process whilst privileging greater sonic control. The result is a record difficult to pigeonhole but post punk is...

Exmagma were a mostly instrumental crazy German jazz/rock trio of Thomas Baluff (organ & piano), Andy Goldner (guitar, bass, alto sax) and Fred Braceful (drums).
They recorded two albums, including a very rare and quite strange 1st album and their 2nd (this one), more progressive fusion album, which I've always been extremely fond of, and which, 'strangely', was only released in France (and on Richard Pinhas' Urus label to boot)!
By the way, their original name was Magma, and then they found...

We did a deep dig into the lost warehouse to come up with these; they are new and unplayed, but they’ve been sitting for over 30 years and there may be small corner dings, seam splits from travel, etc etc.
These are the original issues on Points East, which was ReR’s pre-CD vinyl label ‘dedicated solely to new music from Central Europe’.

Excellent third release by heavy progressive quartet from Columbus, OH who gig heavily and it shows!
Lots of 70s space-rock/progressive moves of the Pink Floy, Nektar variety combined with hard rock ala early Sabbath and even some moves into adding a noise / sound aspect ala Guapo.
For me, Eye are about as good of a instrumentally based modern progressive rock band coming out of the USA that exists. Recommended!

Eye was originally founded in Columbus, Ohio by keyboardist Lisa Bella...

“Lovely Little Girls is a theatrical art-rock band from Chicago that features members of Cheer-Accident and The Flying Luttenbachers. They specialize in odd harmonies and catchy melodies served with a histrionic flair.
“Effusive Supreme”, their third LP for SKiN GRAFT Records, delves into more personal and abstract territory, highlighting the utilitarian and fetishistic relationship to shoes on one track, while enthusiastically accepting ego-death’s indifferent embrace on the next. Equally informed...
