3 Mice is the latest release from our old friend Cédric Vuille, who you know from L'Ensemble Raye. Joining him are Dave Willey (co-leader of Hamster Theatre) (who has long admitted to being heavily influenced by 'le rayes', so this must be a dream come true for him) and Elaine di Falco (of Hughscore, Thinking Plague). The instrumentation is: Cédric Vuille: ukulele, guitar, cuatro, Theremin, clarinet, other oddities, Dave Willey: accordion, bass, guitar, guitarron, other oddities, Elaine di Falco: voice, keyboards, accordion, other oddities and the sound is what you would expect in a good way; it's a combination of the tunefulness and playfulness of both L'Ensemble Raye and Hamster Theatre. I wish I could say that this is a record that will hit it out of the ballpark and bring these great musicians a ton of new fans, but the music is too low-key and unflashy for that. But folks already attuned to these musicians and their works have been counting the days for this to arrive....
