"Violinist Carlos “Zíngaro”, cellist Tomas Ulrich and double bassist Ken Filiano founded the TECK String Quartet with Elliott Sharp, but it’s something quite different what they offer here with Rodrigo Amado at the place of the guitar player. “Surface” is a totally improvised approach to chambermusic, sometimes very abstract and going far beyond the jazz domain. Few times we can hear Amado with such a self-contained and poetic register, even if the melodic phrasing has his by now well known personal trademark."
