Archimedes Badkar - Tre

I've been waiting over a decade for anything by this great Swedish band (whose name translates as Archimedes' Bathtub) to be reissed on CD; I even attempted to license this for Cuneiform a long time ago, so you know I think highly of it. Founded in 1972, by the time of this, their 3rd in 1977, the band had taken their earlier acoustic raga/Terry Riley influences and had added jazz and additional world music influences to come up with a wonderfully enticing record that veers between incredibly good 'world jazz' (ala Bengt Berger's Bitter Funeral Beer Band), Indian ragas, African overtones and Terry Riley. Bengt actually got his start here, as did Christer Bothen (the great lost "Trance Dance", which is also being reissued, according to the liner notes!). This reissue includes as bonus tracks some of the best stuff from their also excellent second album, and the best track from their fourth. Highly recommended.
