Bachir Attar inherited the leadership of the Master Musicians of Joujouka from his father in 1982. Under his direction, the band which William Burroughs called, "the 4,000 year old rock and roll band" has worked with many international artists. This was his first solo album and features him on ghatia, gimbri, lira and percussion, along with Aiby Dieng on chatan, congas, doff bass drums, tom toms, gongs and metal percussion and Maceo Parker (guesting on 3 tracks) on sax and flute.
