You can feel the warmth and love in the performance of the Berlin Music Ensemble. For me, I made this purchase because of the musical suits for YELLOW SUBMARINE and LIVE AND LET DIE. These are excellent.
But there is more. “Three American Sketches for Violin and Chamber Orchestra” is a pleasant surprise. It is pure Americana and ranks up there with the works of Aaron Copland and Jerome Moross. I love these three compositions inspired by Westward bound movement, Old Boston and New York. Another surprise are his choral contributions to THE MISSION (directed by Joffé and scored by Ennio Morricone). These 10 cuts are premier recordings and were not included in Ennio Morricone’s soundtrack. These 10 compositions are gift, a brilliant and moving gift. This is an essential album.”
