Bittova, Iva/Ida Kelarova - Jazz 2 x DVDs

SKU 15-MAM 440
This isn't the best place to start with, if you don't know Iva Bittova, but I know we have a few hard-core Iva fans here and this very hard to find DVD set has some very different type of work from her.

"This specially packaged 2 DVD set documents a benefit concert featuring sisters Iva Bittova and Ida Kelarova, two internationally known stars of Czech music, singing together for the very first time. The event, which was held to raise money and awareness for MIRET - the civil association that carries out projects for gifted young Roma talents - took place on January 5, 2008 at Lucerna Great Hall, Prague - and was sold out (an achievement that no jazz concert had managed for 15 years). The whole concert was inspired by the big American jazz concerts of the 50s and 60s - and there were over 20 top musicians on the stage, including as special guest the great bassist and Czech native George Mraz, from New York. The material includes many well known standards. The 1st DVD presents 90' of the concert itself plus various bonuses, including footage of rehearsals an interview with Ida and Iva and the 2nd DVD has an hour long film called The Black Star that shows the work of young Roma talents at Svojanov Castle in 2007"
