Brown, Pete / Piblokto! - Things May Come and Things May Go, But the Art School Dance Goes On Forever (Mega Blowout Sale)

SKU 21-Parlophone 2007CD
Pete Brown is best known as Jack Bruce's lyricist, having penned many of Jack's (and Cream's) great lyrics. Based on that success, he formed Battered Ornaments and then, when they imploded, he formed Piblokto!
This is their 2nd album, from 1970. This is one of those bands that I never heard at the time and, actually, had always assumed kinda sucked. It wasn't until many, many years later that I actually heard them and I was wrong. BOTH of the two albums by Piblokto are pretty much uniformly great; I know that if I heard this when these tracks were actually recorded in 1969/1970, it would have ripped my head off! I hear hints of things that could be compared to Van der Graaf Generator, Colosseum and most obviously, Family, but this really had it's own, adventurous, late, late 60s sound. Good stuff, very much of its adventurous time! Highly recommended for fans of adventurous late 60s British proto-prog.
