Butterfield, Paul - Live New York 1970 : 2 x CDs (Mega Blowout Sale)

“This album was recorded in the days when the Butterfield Blues Band had been expanded from the early 6-piece Chicago blues band into a larger band with brass section and the later albums (issued as Paul Butterfield's Better Days) veered more towards jazz.
This live album from 1970 sounds really good and almost has a better sound than the band's first studio album, we get off to a great start with a harmonica solo then the brass slams in with the Stax-style punchy horn fills of "Born Under a Bad Sign" I really like this relaxed 12-minute version of the song with solos featuring saxes, more of Butterfield's harp and also Ralph Walsh's lead guitar. Side one also features extended run throughs of "Play on" and the oft' recorded "Drifting' Blues" by Charles Brown.”-G.E. Harrison
