Cauvin, Philippe - Climage

It's really nice to see this French guitar obscurity from the early 80's reissued so nicely with a fat booklet telling Philippe's history and including 5 bonus tracks. Philippe was the leader of the fusion/progressive band Uppsala and also had a career as a solo artist performing on classical guitar and voice. I don't know how many Musea will sell, but I am sure at least some new folks will be charmed by this. " The disciple of enchanters , One of the most brilliant guitar virtuosos , The Trouvere of modern times : these are some of the terms used from 1979 to 1984 by the french musical press to describe Philippe Cauvin. Mixing medieval flavours and contemporary sounds, he invented an inspired and tasty blend of church prayer and progressive rock. He also added to his instrument a seventh string: his voice, a conter-tenor voice singing imaginary words just made to awake dreams. Climage, his second solo album, was released in 1982, and is the result of five years of composing and performing, during and after Cauvins work with his band Uppsala. The album received unanimous acclaim from the musical press. Its a music from another planet, that cant be compared to anything else, made with beauty, strange and moving, defying time." [Musea]
