Chen, Shinki - Shinki Chen (special)

SKU 23-Ash 3038
A reissue of a stupidly rare Japanese psych/progressive album, originally released on Polydor in 1971. Psychedelic spewage at its finest. A wonderful period piece!

"Wild pre-Speed Glue & Shinki album from 1971 of extra heavy fuzz guitar and truly wasted vocals, one of the absolute cornerstones of Japanese psychedelia. In fact, to many people, this is the ultimate psych album from Japan; it starts with a very strange-sounding, avant-garde phased tape machine track, before letting fly with the drug damaged histrionics - onwards they come, one after the next, blunt Neanderthal songs about drugs and girls. Tracks such as 'Requiem of Confusion,' 'Gloomy Reflections' and the 'Corpse' tell you where its at for Shinki Chen."

"One of my favorite mind-bending axe-jammers next to Eduardo Bort, Pappo, Sterling Morrison, Bo Anders Persson, Koray... this amplified mushroom-hair-cloud dude-in-orbit wails in serious volume...loads of fuzz, attitude, and dope-damaged tunes--with Shinki's critically wastered vocals musing off explicitly in boorish-male, Paleolithic fashion. Red blooded stoned 'n' zoned psych rock at its finest."-Mahssa Taghinia/Other Music.
