Cherry, Don - Live In Stockholm (mini-lp sleeve)
77' minutes of previously unreleased, LONG tracks in great sound from Don Cherry's important Swedish period, recorded in 1968 and 1971!
This is where he really began to explore music beyond jazz, fusing it with folk and beyond music.
The two tracks from 1968 features Cherry on pocket trumpet, flutes, and piano, Maffy Falay on trumpet and flutes, Bernt Rosengren and Tommy Koverhult on tenor and flute, Torbjorn Hulcrantz on bass, and Leif Wennerstrom on drums.
On the nearly 30' track from 1971, he's deep into the sound of his Organ Music Society work. This features Cherry with Maffy Falay on trumpet and flute, Tommy Koverhult on flute, and Okay Temiz on drums and percussion. Nice package with some great photos and liner notes about this period of Don's life and work.
