Crown Larks are an excellent Chicago band who play a cool unique progressive rock with heavy psych influences. I stumbled upon them a couple of years ago and they impressed and I was a instant convert!

"...demonstrates a learned appreciation for the city’s recent underground musical history (particularly the ongoing collisions between improvised music and art-rock, which has marked the scene for more than two decades). The material is rooted in a hazy strain of expansive psychedelia, with loose grooves that suggest a Krautrock band wrecked on some strong weed… caterwauling horns form a cumulatively chaotic patch of sound that’s inextricably woven into the sonic fabric draping the band’s lurching rhythms." – Chicago Reader

"Crown Larks threw psych-rock, noise music, and free jazz into one pot and stirred until the whole thing combusted.” – Stereogum

They don't sound anything like it, but if I had to describe them, they are a young, modern version of the kinda evil "Pawn Hearts" VDGG vibe mixed with proto prog psychedelia of the Vertigo label.
But that's just the vibe the music gives me; they aren't specifically 'retro' and they aren't trying to fool you into thinking this is lost lost music from 1971.
This is their 2nd album and they are taking their music all across this miserable country of ours, beating their heads against the wall to play everywhere and anywhere they can, showing more devotion to the music than anyone sanely should! And google their tour and go see them! They're great and deserve an audience.
