Il Fabbrica Dell'Assoluto (The Absolute Factory) release their debut album which is a concept album (of course!) based on Orwell's '1984' (of course!) and totally hit the Rock Progressive Italiano brass ring right off the bat!
The group consists of
Claudio Cassio-vocals
Daniele Fuligni-Hammond organ, mini-Moog, Mellotron, piano
Daniele Sopranzi-guitar
Marco Piloni-bass
Michele Ricciardi-drums
and all of them contribute to the great success of this release. This absolutely captures the sound of 1973-75 progressive rock as it was made in Italy.
The singer is a old-school style singer and the band is an old school style band using completely analog gear as far as I can tell. They are probably 20-somethings and covered in tattoos, but you'd never know from listening that this isn't a 1974 gem that somehow escaped your knowledge previously! It really is close to that authentic.
You can hear a good clip of it here and hear what I mean!
