Familha Artus - Orb

SKU FA2010
Subtitled "radical music of Gascony', Familha Artus is a quintet of musicians, including the bassist and hurdy-gurdy player of Zaar, both of whom work mainly in the folk and world-music camp much more than in the avant-progressive worlds. They combine the folk music of France's Gascony reigion with rock and electronics, giving this ancient music a crazy electronica vibe that doesn't erase the strong regional character of the folk music on which the band is based. Pretty wild and while I found some of it inconsistant, it is, at times, stunningly great.

"We draw from the Gascon tribal repertory, the English progressive rock'n'roll and the electronics musics, cultures and energies which gather us. Our music is radical, because it is ethnic : at the same time deeply rooted in the territories where we invest ourselves and moving towards elsewhere that we explore. The saturated hurdy-gurdy, the energetic drum'n'bass, the tone colour of the voices are there to make vibrate and stir up the bodies."
