The Fucking Champs are pioneers of the style of progressive technical metal later picked up and further 'techicalized' by the likes of Canvas Solaris and Blotted Science, although TFC had more of a sense of humor, their sly, knowing wink at...well, at everything. They are sort of metal, I guess, but they never performed for metal audiences, instead using elements of metal, mixed with all the heavy rock moves of the 70's, but performed by guys who know how cheesy it is (hence the winks) & play it better and heavier than can be believed, stir in an a bit of the orchestrated guitar parts of the best Queen record, mix in some genuine progressive rock flavor, with clever time and accent changes This Euro-only compilation is a fine place to hear them.
