"During the 80s, Gismonti used to record for ECM and also for a Brazilian label. When his son was born he was recording Sanfona/Solo for ECM and decided to release a Brazilian version of it in homage to his son (who, incidentally, is playing with him nowadays). The result is Em Familia, a very hard to find Lp, originally released in a white vinyl. Now, several years later it is 1st time available on CD. It brings 3 compositions that appeared on the ECM release, BUT these are different recordings and arrangements. The side B of the Lp is completely different and only available here. It has Sanfona, one of the most beautiful tracks he ever wrote and also a completely different version from the ECM recording and 2 more quiet tracks. It finishes with some tunes he wrote for his son and in the last one he plays piano and his son "sings" with him. Besides this last tune with his son, all the rest of this CD is absolutelly great.
