"Orange Mountain Music presents the world-premiere recording of Philip Glass' seventh symphony, the Toltec, performed by the Bruckner Orchester Linz conducted by Dennis Russell Davies. Written in 2004, the symphony is Glass' dedication to the Toltec civilization that lived in Mesoamerica from 500 B.C. to 500 A.D. The work is comprised of three representations (movements) of this Wirrarika culture's sacred trinity: The Corn, The Hikuri (Sacred Root) and The Blue Deer. The piece was originally commissioned and performed by Leonard Slatkin and the National Symphony Orchestra."
