Grupo Um - Uma Lenda Ao Vivo
rdm-Selo Sesc 7012
"Grupo Um existed from 1976 to mid 1980s. They were the backbone of the band of Hermeto Pascoal, and start to play by themselves to develop their own style and compositions, which was not possible under Hermeto's leadership. After a while, they formed their own band, left Hermeto's group, recorded 3 marvelous records and disbanded.
Now, more than 30 years later, they reunited with the same line-up of the 1st album, with just a different bass player, and did two concerts. The 1st was recorded during the Jazz na Fábrica Festival, in São Paulo and here on this recording of that show, you will be able to listen to them sounding as fresh as they sounded in 1979, with the same energy, but with 30 years more of experience. Presented here in excellent sound quality and good energy is their entire 1st Lp, Marcha Sobre a Cidade, plus, two new compositions.
If you like Hermeto early works, as Salves Mass, and electric Miles Davis, this is for you. One of the best brazilian bands is back!"-Dr. Rocks
