2005 remaster with bonus tracks and new liner notes. Classic first solo album by guitarist Steve, recorded while he was still a integral member of Genesis. Steve turns in strong performances on guitars, mellotron, harmonium and vocals, and is joined by John Hackett-flute, synths, Mike Rutherford-bass guitar, bass pedals, Phil Collins-drums, vibes, percussion, vocals, John Acock-keyboards, Sally Oldfield-vocals, Robin Miller-oboe, English horn, Nigel Warren-Green-cello. This was also the album that introduced us all to his long running artistic partner Kim Poor, and her paintings. "Remastered this year at Steve Hackett's MAP studios by engineer Benedict Fenner, in direct collaboration with Steve. Packaged in a jewel-case surrounded by a card slip-case featuring the original cover artwork. Bonus tracks are a previously unreleased live version of Ace Of Wands recorded at the Drury Lane Theatre 1979 with Steve’s original live band and the long lost full 17 minute version of Shadow of the Hierophant which showcases Phil Collins’ astounding drumming. The tape of this was recently unearthed when clearing out Steve’s dad’s garden shed! Originally released in 1975, Voyage Of The Acolyte is Steve’s first solo recording, made while still a member of Genesis and believed by many to be the best album Genesis never made! Includes guest performances from Phil Colllins & Mike Rutherford."
