Hahn, Jerry - and his Quintet (special)

SKU 11-Arhoolie 9011
Hahn was the guitarist with John Handy's acclaimed group of 1964/65, which was kinda ahead of it's time in it's stretched out pieces and faint electric touches (Hahn's guitar and violinist Michael White's work). Michael White also appears on this 1967 album, as does Noel Jewkes (tenor and flute), Ron McClure (bass) and Jack DeJohnette (drums).

"A fun session with great players -- Hahn, Jack DeJohnette, Mike White, Ron McClure and especially Noel Jewkes. Philip Elwood calls Jewkes one of the very best reed players in the San Francisco Bay Area, and his work here on sax and flute are the real highlights. I know there are relatively unsung musicians all around the world, but players of Jewkes quality should not go unheard."-Mark Hazell
