Hopper, Hugh / Mike Travis - Volume 3 : North & South

SKU 28-GZO242.2
This is the third of a ten part series compiled by Mike King. He's enlisted Hugh's personal archive, as well as the archives of friends of Hugh's. Mike says, "I've been tasked with compiling a series of CD releases celebrating the life and legacy of the late Hugh Hopper and the process has been an education in his kaleidoscopic musical world. From Hugh's private archive, and additional contributions from his friends (most especially Aymeric) I have selected a wide range of high quality concert and studio recordings, none of which have ever been released nor heard publicly. You're in for a treat."

The third volume features Hugh doing what Hugh did for much of his musical life; playing concerts, backed by an ever-changing array of players.

For this weekend of concerts in Scotland, he was reunited with his friend from Gilgamesh, drummer Mike Travis, in a band of local musicians that Mike assembled specifically to play these shows:
Steve Kettley-tenor & soprano sax
Paul Flush-electric keyboards
Hugh Hopper-bass
Mike Travis-drums

This is a excellent quality stereo recording of all Hugh compositions of exactly the sort that he used to perform throughout the 90s and 00s.

This has great reminiscences from Mike and Steve as liner notes.
