Exciting new band from Montreal. Karcius are an instrumental quartet blending progressive rock and fusion with an emphasis on the former. The music tends to balance guitars and keyboards with a little bit of a tilt in the favor of some gorgeous guitarwork. The main keyboard parts are piano and Fender Rhodes making the electric guitar really pop out - in fact certain parts down right shred. The rhythm section plays with a lot of intensity - particularly the fretless bassist. If you took Liquid Tension Experiment and amped up the prog and jazz elements you've got a inkling of what Karcius are about. One of the surprise discs of 2004. Highly recommended.-Ken Golden
