What does King Kong have to do with 'out music'? Well, other than the pretty cool score by the legendary Max Steiner, it has nothing at all to do with music. Still...some of you I would suspect had similar upbringings to your narrator here and spent a lot of time discovering music while watching old horror movies and one of the greatest of them all is the original King Kong. This superb 2 disc version includes the entire, original 1933 film, (including all the footage that was taken out in the late 30s because it was too sexy and violent), in beautifully restored footage of this groundbreaking, special-effects laden film. Given that this movie is over 75 years old, it looks amazing. There's some funny/interesting commentary on a separate channel as well. The second disc includes two great documentaries: The two documentaries: "I Am Kong! The Exploits of Merian C. Cooper" is an fascinating documentary on the renegade, Hemingway-like director. It is amazing to learn that Cooper truely an adventurer, just like the fictional director Carl Denham in the film. "The Making of Kong, Eighth Wonder of the World" is a two and a half hour documentary broken into 7 parts: "The Origins of King Kong," "Willis O'Brien and Creation," "Cameras Roll on Kong," "The Eighth Wonder," "A Milestone in Visual Effects," "Passion, Sound and Fury," "The Mystery of the Lost Spider Pit Sequence," and "King Kong's Legacy." Here you will learn everything you would ever want to know about the making of King Kong. One of the greatest movies ever and for its time, a masterpiece of technology and hard work. All at a fantastic price!
