By 17 he was an alcoholic.
But he continued to amass an impressive oevre of recordings with many of the same excellent musicians. Rockabilly was a blend of Rock and Roll and Country and Carl Mann was among the best. To say the Sun label attracted and in most cases retained, at least for the key period in the growth of rockabilly, a high level of rock'n'roll talent is an understatement of the highest order. The talent at Sun in its heyday was truly staggering.β
