Mars Volta, The - Tremulant EP CDEP

RESTOCKED! Prog? Punk? Who knows and who cares. Let's let the blowhards on the online boards fight that one out. The Mars Volta's album De-Loused In The Comatorium is an exciting, very unique and well played mixture of punk, progressive rock, Led Zeppelin and much much more. Unfortunately, it's on a major label and we can't supply it. This 20' EP was their first release and is on a little label and we can offer it. So, here it is. These 3 songs are not available on any other album. Simon just went to see them and he reported back that they played only 5 songs during their hour and 3/4th's show. If that in itself isn't prog - for better and for worse, - I don't know what is!

Here's what the folks at GSL had to say about this. "THE MARS VOLTA is the newest vehicle of former AT THE DRIVE-IN members Omar Rodriguez and Cedric Bixler, and the remarkable group of musicians they have teamed-up with. The band are a technical tour-de-force, a "riveting melee of psychedelic rock, free-jazz entropy, and urgent hardcore" taking cues from PINK FLOYD, LED ZEPPELIN, THE BIRTHDAY PARTY, FUGAZI, and SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE. This is their debut release and features 3 tracks: "Concertina", "Cut That City", and "Eunuch Provocateur". "[GSL]

"This is an awesome band that is definitely worth hearing. One of my favorite things in the catalogue. This EP gets a lot of play in our office. This is the first thing they ever released and was released on guitar player Omar's GSL label, who are known for consistently releasing very cool records. If Steve's description above makes this sound at all of interest to you, then do yourself a big favor and check this one out." - Simon/King of all Mailorder
