This was McLaughlin's 3rd solo album, recorded just before he formed the Mahavishnu Orchestra in early spring, 1971. A great album, it featured two different lp sides: One side was double tracked guitar duets while the other side combined the talents of Billy Cobham and Jerry Goodman (soon to join the Mahavishnu Orchestra) as well as Charlie Haden, Airto Moreira, Dave Liebman, Badal Roy and who could forget Mahalakshimi, for a very fine and heady early fusion of Indian music and fusion jazz somewhere between Shakti and the mellow side of the M.O. This album has been completely out of print world-wide for a couple of years now and has only recently made a return in this digi-pack French edition, which is the only version currently available!
