Mingus, Charles - Live in '64 DVD

So, what are the truly legendary groups in jazz? Probably less than a dozen: Duke Ellington's Orchestra, The Hot Five with Louis Armstrong, The Charlie Parker/Dizzy Gillespie Quintet, Ornette Coleman's original quartet, the John Coltrane Quartet, etc. etc. etc. And also, this group; the sextet that the great American composer and bassist Charles Mingus assembled to play a one month tour of Europe, which never recorded in the studio at all, but which has gained their legendary status due to the relatively large number of high quality recordings that document this tour and this band, consisting of Charles, Eric Dolphy, Johnny Coles (for only a short part of the tour before he became ill and they had to continue on without him), Clifford Jordan, Jaki Byard and Dannie Richmond. This is all the extant footage of the legendary tour of the Mingus sextet/quintet in April, 1964. It's 3 shows, filmed in a period of 8 days, and this is all properly licensed from the European agencies and is in really amazingly great quality for black & white film that's over 40 years old. Some of this has been out before on semi-legit/not legit DVDs, but this is the first time it's all been properly cleared afaik, and also presented in the best possible quality. I watched in amazement and if you are a fan, you will too!
