Upon first hearing Mother Mallard I was too enthralled by the spacier sounds of Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze to appreciate it. Now, a dozen or so years later, and after digesting Steve Reich and Philip Glass, this CD is quickly becoming a favorite. Mother Mallard's brand of electronic music is no less mesmerizing than that of the aforementioned kings of kraut, just a little more sober sounding. The 20-minute C-A-G-E Part 2 alone makes this CD a must-have for anyone with an interest in vintage electronics and/or minimalist composition styles.
