23-Axis 1014
"Mutzie is an absolutely superb although short-lived hard-rock/psych act from Detroit, founded in the end of the 60s by great guitarist and singer Eric "Mutzie" Levenberg supported by his brothers Barry on bass and Andee on keyboards with Marc White on drums. The band appeared on the same bills with the likes of Alice Cooper, Johnny Winter and Allman Brothers, and in 1970 recorded and released their first (and only) album. The album was issued by Sussex, a Hollywood-based so-so label, which went bust in 1975 for tax evasion...The album is an incredible mix of hard rock, acid, urban blues with elements of jazz and funk. Whatever one like in classic rock - heavy organ, mental guitar, manic drumming and singing on the verge of nervous breakdown - he'll find it there. As if it was not enough, the band brought in - quite unexpectedly - an impressive horn section - oboe, clarinet, flute, alto, tenor and soprano sax....Most regretfully the sales of LP were very poor, and "Mutzie" soon disbanded."-Golovanov Alexey
"A Detroit outfit who span heavy rock, jazz, blues, soul and psychedelic influences on their album."-Fuzz, Acid & Flowers
