Octafish are a very, very good Germany quintet who started their life as a Frank Zappa cover band, so you know that they can play! They refer to their original music as "industrial fake jazz", and this is their first album, which was originally released in 1995, but is generally rather unknown outside of Germany. The instrumentation is guitar, synths/keyboards, sax, bass/Chapman stick and drums. Their music falls somewhere between complex fusion and Zappa-style progressive. They do two Zappa tunes here (King Kong & Zoot Allures) and the rest are originals. It's pretty darn good!
