SKU Rune 13
Nearly 30 year old 'new old' stock, from the back of our warehouse! Even though these are cheap, it really is (a) great and (b) long out of print. A great, lost Cuneiform release, never on CD and not likely to ever be on CD!

Since everything old is new again, and since we've been selling a lot of vinyl recently and I was poking around in the back of the warehouse, I found these brand new, still sealed, perfect copies of Cuneiform #13, which was never reissued on lp or CD; you can buy mp3s of it (the rights long ago reverted back to Mikel), but you can't buy it in physical format any other way. Like many of our early works, this is a new rock release from the amazingly fertile new-music scene that was the downtown York scene of the 1980s. This album incorporates elements of minimalism, progressive rock and arty who-knows-what-to-call-it. It features the recording debut of saxist Ellery Eskelin and is still a great listen 25 years later.

" Mikel Rouse Broken Consort's third release finds the combo more experimental than ever. Recorded after Rouse's groudbreaking Quorum for Linn Drum machine, the ensemble couldn't resist showing that the device could be used for something other than square 4/4 beats. A Lincoln Portrait also features the recording debut of avante sax genius Ellery Eskelin on soprano sax. The track Quick Thrust, a twelve tone row piece, exemplifies the wild fusion of styles that are all over this recording. Upon its release, Vogue Magazine said: "Rouse's boundary-breaking music has him poised on the cusp of our musical future." Upon its release, A Lincoln Portrait got an A- in the Village Voice."
