This is all five of the original releases by Samla/Zamla (six discs: Samla Mammas Manna, Maltid, Klossas Knapitatet, Schlagerns Mystik/For Aldre Nybegynnare (2 x CDs), Familjesprikor) plus Gregory Allan's collaboration with Samla, Snorungarnas Symfoni, as well as a title by Gregory that as far as I can tell has no personnel ties to Samla at all, but is in here anyway: Bildcirkus. All the discs have been remastered and there are bonus tracks on some of them (usually just 1-2 tracks per disc). I can't imagine that anyone is going to buy this without already knowing who Samla are, but in brief: Samla was founded in 1969 and quickly became one of the cornerstones of the Swedish progressive music scene of the 1970s. They were hugely popular in Scandanavia, toured a great amount and sold lots of records before dissolving in the late 1970s. They are best known for being the first professional band of keyboardist/composer Lars Hollmer, who has released a huge number of solo and 'project' albums (his latest as of this writing is Viandra, which was released by Cuneiform) and for being one of the original five founding bands of the Rock in Opposition (R.I.O.) movement. The music is great and the packaging and generally grooviness of this adorable box and the perfectly reproduced contents is first rate.
