“The brand new album by the Portuguese cult act SATURNIA convinces with a fascinating mix of psychedelia, space rock, electronica and Indian sounds.
Launched in the mid-90s by the Portuguese multi-instrumentalist LUIS SIMÕES as a solo project and occasionally supported in the past by top-class colleagues such as DAEVID ALLEN (GONG), NIK TURNER (HAWKWIND) or STEFAN KOGLEK (COLOR HAZE), since then seven have been released by fans and Critically acclaimed longplayer. Now the brand new album of the sound magician appears on the quality label SULATRON with the programmatically correct title "Stranded In The Green".
Equipped with guitar(s), synthesizer, mellotron, piano, organ, sitar, tampura, bass, drums and percussion and recorded (almost) completely as a solo soloist in a rural idyll, the seven original compositions fuse psychedelia, space rock, electronica and Indian sounds to his fascinating listening experience.
The highlight of the album is the epic, almost fourteen-minute number "Super Natural", which in its dreamy abstraction evokes reminiscences of early PINK FLOYD ("Cirrus Minor"). He was supported during the recordings by the singer ANA VITORINO ("Pan Arrives") and the percussionist NUNO PATRÍCIO aka WINGA ("Keep It Long") from the Portuguese experimental rock band BLASTED MECHANISM. The CD edition comes with two additional instrumental bonus tracks ("Butterfly Collector", "Just Let Yourself Go").”
