Tayler, Stephen W. - Ostinato (Mega Blowout Sale)

SKU 23-EANT 1054
"A beautiful and haunting filmic journey in sound." - Kate Bush

"Ostinato is a labour of love, built on a forty years vision by Stephen, who is influenced by modern electronica and is a Minimalist composer in the tradition of Terry Riley, Philip Glass, and Steve Reich.
"I had so many ideas for music and sound running around inside my head as a teenager, and now, more than 40 years on, technology has evolved to the point where I can realize this vision, as if the outer world and my inner music have finally synchronised, and the production of this album has at last been made possible", says Stephen. "These are the sounds and ideas that have lived in my mind the sound of voices, choirs, organs, the piano, the clarinet, synthesizers, vocoders, places and environments, from the depths of my memory and across the years."
As a mixing and recording engineer, music producer, musician, composer and sound designer, Stephen has contributed this collection of talents to hundreds of world-class albums for artists including Rupert Hine, Suzanne Vega, Peter Gabriel, Underworld, Duncan Sheik, Howard Jones, Stevie Nicks, Milla Jovovich, Rush, Bob Geldof and Tina Turner. He most recently has been working with Kate Bush on her last two albums, as well as her first live performances in thirty-five years. Stephen has always stayed on the leading edge of audio technology, starting with analogue and tape techniques."

"Stephen W Tayler has been succesfully involved in the recording industry for many years (Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, many others), recording, mixing, production, this is his first album as a musician/artist in his own right. There are all sorts of sounds here, making a great cohesive album - probably many more influences than I can detect, but I would have thought that as well as many of the 60s/70s "rock" acts like The Beatles and Pink Floyd (not that Tayler sounds anything like them), there is much positive influence from contemporary composers such as Philip Glass, Terry Riley, Steve Reich. I don't feel I can really do justice to this album by attempting to describe the music and sound,or the layers of sonic texture - it could read very pretentious (on my part)... Excellent stuff!"-Martin MacGilp
