Third Ear Band - Exorcisms (Mega Blowout Sale)

SKU 03-HST 371 CD
The Third Ear Band were a late 60's/mid 70's quartet who were fixtures at ALL the festivals & who used hand drums, oboe, violin/viola & cello to make a dark, pagan & medieval-influenced, acoustic music. The only thing that comes close to their sound is some small bits of the early Univers Zero records. They made several albums for Harvest and eventually fell apart.
Due to interest/nostalgia/whatever, the group reformed in the mid/late 80s featuring original band leader Glen Sweeney (drums/percussion) and other collaborators, both new and old.
This album of previously unreleased demos and rehearsals in very good to excellent sound showcases recordings from the 1988-1989 period, when the musicians involved were Glen Sweeney, Mick Carter, Ursula Smith, Lyn Dobson and Allen Samuel.
The sound is so close to the original band at times, that you would never guess that these recordings are from nearly 20 years later. This still absolutely has THAT SOUND intact and fans will love this. Recommended!

"The Third Ear band have over the years been subject to multitudes of re-issues of the same material often with shoddy or no notes, recording dates or details of any kind, so its with great pleasure that I can say this third set from Gonzo Multimedia fall into the category of well presented and well mastered.
The music comprises two sessions from 1988 and 1989 and is of the high quality end of the releases, the band in fine form and all titles appear to be new/previously unheard versions 'Druid One' on this set is 'Druid three' and is a quite brilliant take on the classic.
Clocking in at over an hour the drone/raga that is Third Ear Band's style is packed full of charm, and is over surprisingly quickly leaving me wanting more."

Great sound....but a bit of confusion in track titles. The music is all here, and it's great,...but the titles are mixed-up in the track list. Other than that ...if you love need this!
