SKU 02-COOKINGVINYL160
Supendous price on a great live set from this monster guitarist and inciteful songwriter. Has many of his classic works and Richard's playing is incendiary, as it always seems to be!

"Richard Thompson is universally regarded as one of the genuine treasures to emerge from the British Rock scene of the 1960’s. The seminal releases with Fairport Convention, the legendary collaborations with then-wife Linda Thompson, and thirty years of solo albums, are the milestones of one of the most eclectic and uncompromising careers in music. His songs have been covered by musical legends, including REM, David Byrne, and Shawn Colvin. He has earned the reputation as master musician and storyteller. In 2003, Richard released "The Old Kit Bag", his first independent release in over 20 years. It is a record that is widely acknowledged as one of the best of his career. In response to the The Old Kit Bag’s great success, Richard hit the road with his band. This DVD captures one of the best shows from that tour. Beautifully shot with 4 cameras, this DVD is an audio/visual delight. In addition to this concert, the DVD also contains rare, bonus footage unavailable anywhere else. This is a must for Richard Thompson fans!"

" Live In Providence was recorded at Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island, a dance barn with a raised stage and no seating. (Thompson quips that "it's a shame to see you old people standing up".) That's the ambience - more club date than concert. The look is good, with the stage mostly bathed in blue light. The Band: Pennsylvania-born Pete Zorn (guitar, mandolin, sax) has lived in London since the 70s, and his association with Richard Thompson goes back at least 20 years (and he appears on the Old Grey Whistle Test extra). Bassist Rory McFarlane toured with Thompson in the 80s and has played and recorded extensively with fellow RTB alumnus Christine Collister. (He plays bass on the Across A Crowded Room extras.) Texan Earl Harvin (drums and percussion) -the only new hand - heads his own jazz trio, and has worked with a diverse range of rock acts. He's a gun. The Songs: The song list is diverse, with four songs from The Old Kit Bag (2003) and a good range of material from throughout 80s and 90s. Three songs are from the greatest Richard (and Linda) Thompson LP, Shoot Out the Lights..."-Steve Ford
