This is the latest release by a band who has long been involved in the jam band scene. This is very, very progressive-rock sounding in a pleasing, contemporary way. You can hear elements of some of the best of the modern progressive bands such as Echolyn both instrumentally and vocally (yes, they can 'jam' and also sing!) and bits of jazz and rock float by in a pleasing, unbelievably well played way. Once again, there are plenty of things you can do with 'progressive rock' to keep it fresh, as long as you are not only concerned about sounding like 35 year old music...and U.M. do NOT sound old.
