Yamashta, Stomu - One by One (24 bit remastered)

SKU 23-ESOTERIC2083
Stomu Yasmashta was a renowned and young Japanese percussionist and composer from Japan who moved to London around 1970 and made a number of albums for Island Records, all of which are quite hard to find. This was the second album by his jazz-rock group East Wind, which featured the very impressive line-up of: Hugh Hopper (bass), Gary Boyle or Frank Tankowski (guitar), Brian Gascoigne (keyboards), Nigel Morris or Mike Travis (drums), Stomu Yamash'ta (drums/percussion), Sammi Abu (vocal/percussion/flute) and Hisako Yamash'ta (violin). It was the soundtrack to a 'racing movie' and, honestly, despite the great personnel, it is a mixed bag; some of it is fantastic and some of it is not. This is the typically excellent job that Esoteric always seem to do, with a history of the band and excellent mastering done directly from the stereo master tapes.
