Yamashta, Stomu - Raindog (24 bit remastered)

SKU 23-ESOTERIC2085
Stomu Yasmashta was a renowned and young Japanese percussionist and composer from Japan who moved to London around 1970 and made a number of albums for Island Records, all of which are quite hard to find. This 1975 album was his first release after his jazz-rock group East Wind fell apart. The line up is: Stomu Yamash'ta -percussion, Gary Boyle-guitar, Tsuneo Matsumoto-guitar, Brian Gascoigne-keyboards, Daito Fujita-bass, Tozumi Tanaka-drums, Hisako Yamash'ta-violin, with guests on vocals. This is a more soundtracky work than East Wind and, in fact, the second piece was used in the film score of the great cult film "The Man Who Fell to Earth", staring David Bowie. Never-before released on CD, this is the typically excellent job that Esoteric always seem to do, with a history of the artist and excellent mastering done directly from the stereo master tapes.
