This is the debut release by a very excellent modern jazz trio consisting of guitar, bass and drums. I saw them open for Faun Fables in Baltimore, not knowing anything about them and they blew me away. The drummer is the drummer of Dysrhythmia and the guitarist is his brother. The bassist plays double bass, which is a nice touch, and they all cook in a post-modern, 'free-yet-structured jazz trio who have also been influenced by rock' kinda way. It reminds me a bit of Joe Morris' trio, but perhaps a bit less out and a bit more constantly swinging or of the great, obscure German band Dzyan at their jazziest. Everything about this is right and you don't have to take my word for it, due to the wonders of myspace. Highly recommended.
