Received direct from label, unsealed and outer box has some shelf wear. It's not bad, but could be better. I guess that's how these come now, so it is what it is. You have been warned. The box and the booklets are really beautifully done. Now here comes the party line:
"The Art Box marks the 25th anniversary of one of the most eclectic, dynamic and productive creative alliances in the history of experimental music. Featuring...

“Back Door first came together in 1971 as a trio featuring Colin Hodkinson (bass, guitar, vocals), Ron Aspery (saxes, flute, electric piano) and Tony Hicks (drums) and recorded their first album in 1972. This self-financed and independently released record came to the attention of the London music press and after enthusiastic reviews and a short residency at Ronnie Scott’s club in Soho, the band secured a wider release of their album with Warner Bros. Around this time Back Door also began to record...

Their fourth album from 1972 by this British group that came out of the English progressive movement of the 60's. Their music combines elements of The Moody Blues, to whom they are always compared, but also the more mellow parts of early King Crimson and Genesis. One of their greats from a great, under-heralded band.

“Released in November 1972, their fourth album was mainly recorded at Strawberry Studios in Stockport with the epic ‘Moonwater’ being recorded with a full orchestra at Abbey Road...

Third album by this British group that came out of the English progressive movement of the 60's. This was their 3rd album, released in 1971 and is yet another strong symphonic rock contender.

“This expanded edition of “…Other Short Stories” comprises 40 tracks and features the original UK stereo mix re-mastered from the original master tapes and...

This is a great set of music with a fascinating story. In brief, Harry Bertoia was a jeweler, sculptor and furniture designer (among other things) who, staring in the 50s, began to sculpt sculptures which produced sound, made of tall vertical rods.

In the late 70s, there were 11 privately released recordings made and released by Bertoia. Now for the first time anywhere, all 11 of them are reissued taken from their original master tapes.

This is a must for fans of experimental sounds....

This is your last chance on this apparently now out of print set!

This is all five of the band's albums: Gorilla, The Doughnut In Granny's Greenhouse, Tadpoles, Keynsham and Let's Make Up And Be Friendly.
Essential, quintessentially British music and humor and a great outfit for their time.

Pete Brown was the lyricist for Jack Bruce and even though I love Jack during and post-Cream, I never paid any attention to Pete’s own bands of the same period, wrongly assuming, for no good reason, that they weren’t any good.
When I finally played played Battered Ornaments and Piblokto!, decades and decades later, they were pretty much uniformly great; I know that if I heard this when these tracks were actually recorded in 1969/70, it would have ripped my head off!
I heard hints of things...

Jack is best known for being the principle songwriter and bassist and voice behind Cream. He's got a wonderful voice and is a fine composer and he continues to make good work to this day. This was the second release he had after Cream, and is a warm collection of songs with Jack playing piano, bass and cello and Chris Spedding providing guitar and John Marshall providing drums.
This was always my favorite of his (most all very fine) albums. Nicely remastered and sounding great, this includes new...

In 1967 and 1968, Ekseption released two singles on the Imperial label, but their big breakthrough came in 1969 when the band signed a contract with Philips, where their self-titled debut album was released. How to explain Family's 5th album (1971) 30 years later? Take a idiosyncratic vocalist, who, like Peter Hammill or Don Van Vliet you either grow to love or hate (Roger Chapman) combine his talents with a standard guitar-led rock format, but add a multi-instrumentalist who plays vibes/piano/flute, a great bassist (John Wetton!), and have the guitarist add mandolin at the right times. Stir this wild and creative mix of hard rock and and folk and shake it all up with a lot of thought and experimentation...

Their reputation has grown in recent years via the discovery of a cassette...

"After a few seconds into Reaching For The Infinite, there can only be two reactions. First, seasoned listeners will feel satisfaction, while new ears will flood with intrigue. The album, the first disc of the sophomore five-CD set Amsterdam pianist Miha Gantar, kicks off a journey through several modes and lineages around the farthest reaches of the keys.
With his first release, 2022's five-CD Introducing, Slovenia-born artist pulled from musical disciples as diverse as his history with music itself..

"Amsterdam based Slovenian pianist and composer Miha Gantar has a very personal and very wide music vision, and the simultaneous release of several of its aspects seems logic, from the point of view of the artist but also of the listener, who is capable, this way, to achieve a complete experience of that sound world of a new, fresh, surprising and much welcomed player in the international creative music game. Each configuration (solo: “Origins of the Pure”; duo: “Songs and Serenades”; trio...
