Great, young player and a great band! What I want to hear in new jazz band! Nels agrees! :-)

“A merging of allegedly opposing forces/sensibilities. A balancing act of sorts. An eloquent evocation of intricate imagination and thoughtful improvisation. A dalliance with intensity that somehow often ends up feeling like intimacy. These are sentence...

“Guitar Talk is a collection of intimate guitar duet recordings featuring Joel Harrison with Ben Monder, Steve Cardenas, Pete McCann, David Gilmore, and legendary bassist Steve Swallow.
Joel Harrison penned nine of the original compositions in 2019. The other two cuts are solo efforts, a gem-like rendition of Eillington’s Reflections in D, and a haunting solo take on America the Beautiful.
All tracks were recorded with two amps in a room, no overdubs. Harrison is in the left speaker in all duos.

“Disc One: Harrison’s ambitious music for classical guitar duo, performed by Daniel Lippel and Fareed Haque. This is Harrison’s first collection of fully notated work for classical guitar, with all his customary lyricism, virtuosity and imagination. Influences include Ralph Towner, Egberto Gismonti, and 20th century classical composers such as Lennox Berkley.

Disc Two: Jazz and new music duos from Harrison with partners Mike Stern, Nels Cline, Camila Meza, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Anthony Pirog, Brad..

Reaching WAY beyond what even I though was his extremely impressive range of abilities to make music in myriad styles, this is kind of an old school r’n’b album, with fabulous vocals.

“This is a recording Harrison made during the pandemic that, like so much of his output, is a total surprise. The Stardust Reunion Band is a vocal-centered record featuring four of New York City’s greatest singers, Everett Bradley, Nicki Richards, Keith Fluitt, & Amanda Homi. The songs draw from R&B, jazz, rock...

Joel Harison – electric and acoustic guitars, toy piano, Fender Rhodes, Tibetian bowls, mellotron
Anthony Pirog – electric and acoustic guitars, synthesizer
Stephan Crump – electric bass
Allison Miller – drums, Moog

“Pirog and Harrison tend to finish each other sentences when they play. Twenty five years separate them in age, and yet they seem to have common ancestry. Both are from Wash. D.C., both love jazz, rock, fusion, avant garde, folk, funk, and country music, and both often do

This record is like the soundtrack for the next town over from Twin Peaks. Great listen start to finish." - Zobarx on BandCamp

“In Side is a collection combining newly composed pieces and material that I've been performing live for many years. I have long been a fan of solo guitar recordings that do not shy away from the use of overdubbing (John Abercrombie - Characters, Sonny Sharrock - Guitar, Bill Frisell - Ghost Town) and have always wanted to create a release using this approach.....

“The idea for this project started when Alternative Guitar Summit founder Joel Harrison presented a concert of virtual solo performances from around the world during the pandemic. Struck by the fantastic variety of people's work he decided to produce a CD as a way of documenting these and other brilliant artists. Playing...
