This is a 1968 CLASSIC!

“The C.A. Quintet’s journey to Hades burned hot enough to melt the ice in their frigid Minnesota environs. A coveted collectable since the psychedelic record collecting disaster whirl first started over 30 years ago, Trip Thru Hell (1968) is rightly regarded as the epitome of local psych-cum-garage rising above its humble roots into something truly monolithic. Evolving from the local circuit into a hellish beast of keyboards, lysergic lyrics, trippy guitars and even subtle..

This is a engaging and utterly charming tribute to an engaging and charming and unique composer and character, performed with a modern, almost indie-rock vibe, while being true to the compositions and the composer's intent. I'm sure Moondog would have loved this and any fan of Moondog will love this.

"French band Cabaret Contemporain pay tribute to the composer Moondog -- New York's Viking -- with singing by two Scandinavian sirens, Swedish singers Linda Olh and Isabel Srling. The seven...

The second of two great, classic, experimental/avant-garde/progressive releases by this Italian composer and one of the greatest 'systems musics' releases ever and also one of the least known.
Sei Note In Logica was his even more obscure follow up to Sonanze that combined a small orchestra performing a "systems music" style piece with computer overlays.

“Roberto Cacciapaglia is an Italian composer and pianist who started out in the fertile Milan avant-garde scene of the 1970s, which included...

Sonanze was released by the Komische Kourriers imprint, but only in Italy, & is one of the most obscure Cosmiche music releases. An excellent quiet spacey work. Essential!

"An influential member of the Italian avant-garde, Roberto Cacciapaglia has spent the last four decades blurring the lines between classical and electronic music, developing a sound that has never been restricted by genre. A classically trained pianist and composer from Milan, Cacciapaglia first came to prominence in the early..

“New Caedmon album featuring seven new songs and six previously unreleased tracks from the '70s.
For their 40th anniversary, legendary psych-folk band Caedmon wrote seven new songs and found unreleased archive material from the '70s to make the album here, titled Rare. Highlights of the new tracks are the eight-minute prog-folk rock epic "Dream Of The Rood", the folk-funk of "Go" the folk-rock of "Runaway", and more. The previously unreleased songs are from 1975-1978 and features the studio version

"So excited and honored to finally release the vinyl document of my realization of John Cage's Rozart Mix. Back in the extremely strange year of 2020, I was approached by Wave Farm and John Cage Trust to stage a performance of this seldomly performed piece that Cage wrote for Alvin Lucier.
The piece is comprised of 88 tape loops (one for each key of a piano), spliced together with multiple non-musical sounds played back on 12 reel to reel machines. In January of 2021 I spent a wonderful and intense...

One of the great singer-songerwriter albums of the 70's, and with a nice, decidedly intellectual and literary bent. Cale is in excellent voice, and the tunes are all quite memorable. Cale performs on keyboards, viola and bass, and also appearing are Lowell George-guitar and Richie Hayward-drums (both of Little Feat!). This new version includes an expanded booklet and includes previously unreleased outtakes. Different than, but definitely for fans of Jack Bruce's Harmony Row. Recommended!

“Despite the album’s playful title, Cale’s second album in just over a year still contains the same feelings of fierce and inquisitive rage that were present in 2023 album MERCY. He remains angry, still incensed by the willful destruction that unchecked capitalists and unrepentant conmen have hoisted upon the wonders of this world and the goodness of its people. But this is not at all MERCY II, or some collection of castoffs, as throughout his career of more than six decades, Cale has never been much for...

John Cale's 2nd solo album, from 1972, and his first of two classics on Reprise (Paris 1919 followed next year), this is a odd, completely NON-pop release with strong elements of 20th century classical music and organized sound. Quite radical for 1972, and still pretty odd and unusual.

The Camberwell Now were led by Charles Hayward, the drumming/vocalist mastermind behind This Heat, and was the band that he formed immediately after This Heat broke up.
They released an album and 2 EPs in their lifetime, and this is the both of the EPs, which were their 1st and last releases
Their sound was very informed by the This Heat esthetic, with more creative usages of drones than before and some incredible basswork.
While they didn't always quite achieve This Heat's greatness...

André Roligheten soprano and tenor saxophone, bass clarinet
Andreas Wildhagen drums
Jonas Cambien piano (soprano saxophone on track 4, organ on tracks 6, 11)

"Belgian-born, Oslo-based pianist Jonas Cambien couldn’t have chosen better partners than Andreas Wildhagen and André Roligheten to perform his cleverly constructed compositions. On its third studio album, his trio shows itself as a tightly interacting ensemble, with a free and playful approach.
Cambiens compositions often...

André Roligheten soprano and tenor saxophone, bass clarinet, flute
Andreas Wildhagen drums and percussion (trumpet on track 4)
Jonas Cambien piano (microtonal melodica on track 9)
guest:
Torstein Lavik Larsen trumpet on track 6 & 8

"The Jonas Cambien Trio reveals influences from the pioneers and greats of free music, but there’s much more going on in “We Must Mustn’t We”, beginning with Cambien’s classical-influenced piano style. A Belgian-born living in Oslo, Jonas Cambien...

"Guitarist Ken Camden returns for his third solo album, continuing his explorations to seek out new techniques and sounds from the electric guitar. By utilizing both a steel slide and e-bow technique, Camden has moved into micro-tonal territory to...

“Their breakthrough concept album is based on the eponymous book by Paul Gallico. This masterpiece climbed to the Top-30 of the British charts, it earned Melody Maker's Brightest Hope award and firmly established the band with a strong and loyal fanbase.”

This is the second release by this 8 piece + guests band who get a very, very large sound that veers betweeen "The Grand Wazoo" type big band jazz/rock and a more chamber rock sound ala Five Storey Ensemble, Julverne, Aranis, etc. This gets a solid thumbs (and toes) up; highly recommended!!

"Strasbourg's eccentric and eclectic Zeuhl/avant garde/RIO "ensemble" (more like a small orchestra!) have produced a sequel to their 2011 "soundtrack" to an imaginary alien space invasion. The band has matured..

"Started as the so-called 'Krautrock Guerrilla' in 2012, six years later the Berlin combo Camera are releasing their fourth full-length album, Emotional Detox. Customarily associated with the likes of NEU! and La Düsseldorf it is time to allow Camera to break free of the krautrock tradition. For fans of nominative determinism, there can be few more apposite appelations than Michael Drummer. He is the catalyst, linking everything together as he crosses the soundscape of everything captured on Camera...

Very good, modern duo playing a music that is modern but also a homage to Krautrock bands of the 70s in general and Neu! in particular. Nice stuff!

"Radiate stretches, sprawls and pummels with the best of the Krautrock genre and adds some...

“British composer / arranger / pianist John Cameron is mostly known to the world for his work as a composer of film scores, but in the late 1960s he was also an active Jazz player and his quartet played many gigs at the time and also managed to record this album in 1969.
Joining pianist John Cameron in the 'good and the great of British Jazz' line-up is bass player Danny Thompson, percussionist Tony Carr, and flute and saxophone player Harold McNair. 'Off Centre' was originally released on Decca's...

A legendary French group that never released an lp in their lifetime, although they recorded a not released album for Tapioca, and whose leader, Dominique Grimaud, later collaborated with Guigou Chenevier of Etron Fou and then founded Video-Aventures!
This recently found tape was recorded live during summer 1975. The formation of the band is different on this tape than their usual 'rock band' lineup, as during this period Camizole were a duo who played only electronic music in the same vein as Klaus...

All of these archival Can titles have been really good, but, they’ve all been lacking one thing: Damo!
Finally we have a show from what I consider the greatest period of the band, when the band was cranking and Damo was doing what only he did and no one else ever could!

“Live in Paris 1973 finds Can in magical form for a performance recorded at L'Olympia in Paris on 12 May 1973, marking the first of the live series to feature Damo Suzuki on vocals.
From 1970-73 the core line up of Irmin.

"This is another solid Italian album that operates in the same musical territory as De De Lind, Osanna, and maybe Dalton. The 18 minute opening track on this album starts with a great vocal line that sounds similar to Peter Hammill in his VDDG heyday. It is accompanied by heavy guitar riffing and some flute. After a few minutes of guitar riffing (a bit like Uriah Heep) and some vocals, a quiet segment follows with ethereal, semi-choir vocals and some psychedelic guitar soloing. Next, a longer...

These copies are completely new, perfect and sealed and this is a incredible deal on a limited vinyl set that went out of print over 20 years ago!
This is the Magic Band, sans Don, at the first sessions for Trout Mask, which were recorded at the Woodland Hills house they lived and practiced in, running through their repertoire.
The sound is quite excellent and the music is quadrupally amazing and finally you can HEAR the amazing band and hear exactly how incredible two guitars, bass and drums...

This bootleg is simultaneously much more and much less than it appears to be.

First the good news: The opening 9 tracks are from the Avalon Ballroon, 1966. 4 of these tracks: Tupelo, Somebody In My Home, Evil, Old Folk's Boogie all appeared on the now out of print, incredible Revenant set, Grow Fins, but the other 5 tracks have long been known to exist, but have never been seen or heard before: Down In The Bottom, Don't Start Me To Talkin', The Sun Is Shinin', St. James Infirmary, Harp....

This is the first time that the full concert has been released on vinyl!

THE BONUS MATERIAL - DETAILED REVIEW (by Aymeric Leroy)
One of the major achievements of this series, and a dream come true for a lot of Caravan fans - the complete concert with the New Symphonia. In truth, the extra 'symphonic' material is limited to the encore, A Hunting We Shall Go, which many in attendance that night said was the peak of the evening. And it is indeed a superb piece, although not a major...

A classic, very beautifully done.

"If I Could Do It All Over Again, I'd Do It All Over You is the second album by the Canterbury/progressive rock band Caravan. Originally released in 1970 this album was a significant advancement over the debut with much more highly melodic, complex songs, and more elaborate musicianship. A progressive rock classic reissued!"

NOTE: All copies have top seam splits. It's not terrible, but it's there!

"The group's first new studio album in eight years. Caravan is one of the darlings of the progressive rock and the 'Canterbury scene', formed in 1968 and blending rock, jazz, folk and classical influences into a warm and distinctive sound. Their previous 14 studio albums and numerous live recordings have seen them attract a large and faithful following and the band toured regularly until the restrictions of the...

“Formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2011, Caravela Escarlate is a trio heavily inspired by both English and Italian ‘70s Prog Rock, but they draw on traditional and popular Brazilian music, which gives them a special, and quite unique, sound.
Caravela Escarlate's third album is a new journey into vintage progressive rock pathways. "III" evokes historical issues in different contexts - Roman Empire, Medieval Times, Pre-Columbian Civilizations, and Age of Discovery. The cover artwork is a painting of the...

This was the group's fourth album and it was the one that almost (and perhaps should have) catapulted them into the big time in the UK.
This has the 'classic' sextet lineup. It has their 'almost' hit "Is This The Life", and lots of other stuff that I like even more.

“An iconic album recorded with the 1987 classic line-up of Tim Smith, Jim Smith, Sarah Smith, William D. Drake, Tim Quy and Dominic Luckman, this release celebrates a band on the verge of success, working through the small hours..

Not just released, but SPITEFULLY released!

"A collection of Cardiacs’ earliest works recorded between the years 1977-1979. Spitefully compiled and released on the black market without the band’s knowledge by an embittered associate for personal gain. Now Archive Cardiacs gets the digipac works done on it to reflect it's incredible contents. Simply a ‘must have’ for the collector of toneless drivel."

For reasons I have never quite understood, and maybe they never understood either, Guns, released in 1999, was the band's last studio album.

"Guns…the perfect companion to ‘Sing To God’. Cardiacs extend the blueprint ever outwards with a 12 song colossus, bursting with brilliance, fire, and beauty. Guns… the last album of the Jon Poole-era line up, swims reedier rivers than Cardiacs have previously ventured into. Won’t you become enchanted in the warmth of the ghostly ‘Jitterbug’? Paint a star on...

As it says in Wikipedia: " The power quartet established: Heaven Born and Ever Bright and the Rough Trade debacle (1991–1994)." These guys just could NOT catch a break...

"This excellent album, originally released in 1992 begins with a specially commissioned hymn in glorious praise of THE ALPHABET BUSINESS CONCERN and continues with an unrepenting splendour guaranteed to lift the bloated heart and swollen lungs from even the lowest ebb. Originally marketed by Rough Trade. The methods employed...

This is their 3rd album and it was originally released on cassette only. Lots of great ones on this one: how can you fault any album that brought us "To Go Off And Things" as well as "Gibber And Twitch". Well, you can't!

Update: You can't fault it, but you can improve it. As I understand it, The Seaside was originally released on cassette only. When it was later made available as a CD in the 90s, some tracks were taken off, and some parts were re-done or alternative versions to the original were...

"The Sea Nymphs is an album recorded as a side project by Tim and Sarah Smith, and William D. Drake of the band Cardiacs, originally known as Mr and Mrs Smith and Mr Drake. It was originally only available through the fan club and at concerts, but was later released generally as a CD in 1992."-Wikipedia

"The rumours that three key members of Cardiacs both past and present, namely Tim Smith, Sarah Smith and William D. Drake had been secretly recording material under the name of "The Sea Nymphs"...

For a band who never released anything, this is a surprisingly VERY good progressive hard rock album, with the accent on the hard rock.

“Heavy UK progressive monster rarity from 1973; only one acetate copy known to exist!
During their brief existence, Cargo -- a band that supported the likes of Sam Apple Pie, Stray, East of Eden, and Greenslade -- certainly delivered the goods with their powerful blend of hard-rock, psychedelic and progressive/jazz-rock sounds, full of screaming vocals...

"Immediately engaging & all recorded live without overdubs. An analogue e-music roller-coaster ride. Hop on if you dare!”—Eroc

Finally available on vinyl, this underground masterwork of analog electronic music pushed the envelope of melodic synth freakouts to unimaginable edges and undreamt of realms of space. Recorded live on the spot without overdubs, Jeff Carney’s "Imperfect Space Journeys” (ISJ) has become a highly prized collectible amongst “Berlin School” fanatics still soaking in the '70s...

“Mastered for vinyl by legendary Krautrock musician and sound engineer Eroc taken from the original analog tapes.
Jeff Carney's sophomore effort for audioFile (1989) could not have been criticized were it to have remained in similar territory as the electronic wall of sound he had created on Imperfect Space Journeys. Instead, he created a more sparse, evolving tapestry of analog timbres. Using an exclusively vintage analog arsenal and recording live without overdubbing, Carney pushed forward with...

This is the first ever vinyl reissue of this excellent French symphonic rock classic! Limited edition of 150 x hand-numbered copies on transparent orange with black swirl vinyl!
The second (& my favorite) of two by this solid symphonic rock band from Nice, France. Having the exact same instrumentation as the better known Pulsar (keyboards, reeds, guitar, bass, drums & vocals), Carpe Diem's music might be a bit comparable to Pulsar, although they were not so dark.
Some of their instrumental parts.

•First time vinyl reissue of 1976 underground French rock rarity—only 300x copies available

•Insert details the band’s history up to the recording of this album.

•"At the risk of sounding like a raving fanboy, En Regardent Passer Le Temps is indeed a classic record for the ages.”—Greg Northrup, Progweed

“Formed in 1970, Carpe Diem started out playing covers by the likes of East of Eden, King Crimson, Deep Purple, and Uriah Heep in clubs along the French Riviera. Original...

By now everyone should know, John Carpenter is not only a celebrated filmmaker but also a musical maestro whose soundtracks have become synonymous with the genres of horror, suspense, and science fiction. His innate talent for composition and his deep understanding of how music can elevate storytelling have left an indelible mark on the world of cinema, and a haunting presence in people's record collections.
Anthology II continues the celebration of his compositional genius via an excellently...

Unlike his two, previous, non-soundtrack albums, this is John's actual movie themes (all of which he wrote) and is done in the same heavy progressive style as his 2016 concert tour presented them! Fun stuff and fans of Goblin, Zombi and John's always great soundtracks will love it.

"John Carpenter is a legend. As the director and composer behind dozens of classic movies, Carpenter has established a reputation as one of the greatest filmmakers in the history of modern cinema, as well as one of its..

“Official half-speed mastered re-issue of British trumpeter and bandleader Ian Carr's iconic jazz-fusion-rock hybrid 'Belladonna' from 1972.
Originally released on the Vertigo label, complete with collectable 'swirl' record centre design, this sought-after jazz-rock-fusion rarity features some of the cream of the UK jazz musicians of the 70's. Comprised from groups such as Nucleus, Brian Auger's band, Soft Machine, Stan Tracy group, the players included Brian Smith (tenor and soprano saxophones...

“In 1972, trumpeter Baikida Carroll and some of his colleagues from the Black Artists Group (more precisely saxophonist/flutist Oliver Lake, trombonist Joseph Bowie, drummer Charles "Bobo" Shaw and trumpeter Floyd LeFlore) took the advice of their friends in the Art Ensemble Of Chicago and left their native Missouri to come and discover the bright lights of Paris for themselves. The following year they would even get the chance to record their only album which would rapidly attain mythical status and a...

Very interesting folk / new music release from 1978. Laraaji? Robert Rutman? Constance Demby? 1978? Yeah, I’m in.

“The first ever reissue of the work of American composer Dorothy Carter, master of the hammered dulcimer, zither, and other instruments of the hammer chord zither/psalterium family.
A true musical vagabond, Dorothy was born in New York in 1935, though her spiritual pursuit of an expansive musical knowledge would take her to monasteries in Mexico, conservatories in France and...

When I first heard Causa Sui (on their extraordinarily good "Summer Sessions" release) I said:

Great, new album by this fine band.

“Causa Sui's Free Ride is finally back in print after being sold out for more than a decade! The original single-LP version, released in 2007 on Elektrohasch, has been selling for ridiculous prices on Discogs and eBay. Even the CDs are sought-after collectors' items, almost impossible to find, until now. Imagine a tidal wave sweeping up from the 1960s through the 1970s, then cresting in the 1990s before finally crashing on the shore of the present; that's what Free Ride sounds like. This is the "heavy...

“Causa Sui returns with a new live album, recorded at their home turf -- the legendary Copenhagen venue Loppen, located at the famous, and notorious, freetown Christiania -- a venue the band has played more often than any other throughout their 20 year career.
This set is the perfect companion to From The Source, which saw the band condense the multiple stylistic aspects of their sound into an awe-inspiring 47 minutes. Represented here are key cuts from that album -- including the sidelong 7-part...
