“Excellent album in Italian Symphonic Progressive style!
One and only album by Argentine progressive rock band AGNUS is a rarely known little gem within the rich South American prog scene. They used to have a close relationship to great and more famous band MIA and although their compositions might be a bit less intricate than MIA's ones I think they were really not inferior to them. As my fellow reviewer Marcelo stated already, their music was heavily influenced by 70's Italian Prog and maybe as well a bit by CAMEL. The album consists of four long compositions performed very well on guitar, keyboard and flute with occasional very beautiful vocals (male and female) quite often in a pastoral vein.”-progarchives
“Agnus formed in 1973 in Argentina, but it wasn’t until 1980 that they managed to release their sole magnus opus Pinturas Y Expresiones, the most expensive ($3,000) progressive album ever released in their native country.
This is a unique blend of symphonic prog with two faces, equally split between the two sides, one with a folky edge, punctuated by aethereal pastoral vocals in an intimate dialogue with flute and violin, and another packed with wandering psychedelic guitars and side-effects.
Picture Rennaissance in an interminable jam with MIA and Catharsis with Bacamarte and you might start to get a feel for this one-of-a-kind artefact. This is the first, long-awaited official reissue in a limited edition of 300 copies featuring the original booklet + bespoke biography straight from the band.
File nearby: Bacamarte, Rennaissance, MIA, Armando Tirelli, Apoteosi, Catharsis.”
