Great, new album by this fine band.
When I first heard Causa Sui (on their extraordinarily good "Summer Sessions" release) I said:
"Who are these guys? Where did this come from? The sound ranges from heavier stylings that recall their stoner rock roots, blended with more jazz/rock sounds. The sounds you will hear here are reminiscent of jammy, jazz-rock oriented Krautrock (Embryo circa Rock Session and Steig Aus, Electric Orange, Can, Xhol, Out of Focus) blended with Tangle Edge, Soft Machine, Jimi Hendrix. Very groove oriented in a good way and very focused for music that obviously came out of lots of jamming/improvising. Highly recommended!"
Everything I said there still holds on 2013 release!
"Causa Sui consists of Jakob Skött, Jonas Munk, Rasmus Rasmussen and Jess Kahr, and have released seven albums since 2005, most notably the trilogy set Summer Sessions that saw the band move away from the heavy-psych of their two first albums to more abstract, instrumental sounds that owes as much to electric Miles Davis or Can as to american stoner-rock.
Causa Sui's has been described as the sound of a giant wave rolling up through the last four decades of rock, which is truer than ever before regarding their latest, and most ambitious album to date, Euporie Tide."
"This Danish four-piece unashamedly reference such esteemed cosmic talents as Blue Cheer, Guru Guru, Amon Düül II and Ash Ra Tempel. Yes, it's another improv quest for the heart of sonic enlightenment, but they do it with a conviction, dexterity and drive that few modern bands possess."-Mojo
"Fuck me, this is the absolute ult in amphetamine power drives, an album of sheer exhilarating post- Krautrock, post-psychedelic, hell, brothers'n'sisters, post-everything. Imagine Ash Ra Tempel's Flowers Must Die or perhaps side 4 of Amon Düül 2's Yeti and yooz somewhat approaching these guys' pleasure zones. But even those hefty comparisons is doing these gentlemen dudes a disservice because this music really don't sound like nothing else I've be-hear-oled in many a long year ... Wonderful stuff and absolutely free fucking rock!."-Julian Cope
