This is the very first Dixie Dregs album, recorded and released when they were still university students. It features 80% of the classic lineup in place and it very quickly got them signed.
This is the first time that this ‘spectacular’ release has has been reissued on vinyl and only 1200 copies were made.
“The Great Spectacular is Dixie Dregs' original 1975 demo tape, pressed on vinyl by the band and distributed locally in limited quantities. Yet The Great Spectacular also functions as a greatest hits of sorts, debuting tracks which would be professionally recorded across Dixie Dregs' classic 1977-1979 Capricorn Records albums, as well as during guitarist/band leader Steve Morse's stint in Kansas.
Original copies of The Great Spectacular are rare collectors' items. This reissue is on white vinyl, to match the cover art.”
